Advantages of LoRaWAN Network

The following are some advantages of developing Internet of Things technology in this new era, with multiple advantages:

Long distance and coverage: Its distance can reach 15km in LOS, which is incomparable to any other communication protocol.

Low power consumption: LoRa technology provides an ultra-low power consumption radio, which is very suitable for devices requiring a single charge for ten years or more.

Low cost hardware: Compared with other networks, the cost of LoRaWAN infrastructure is very low, and the radio cost of terminal equipment is also very low. In addition, various open source versions of infrastructure, such as gateways, are being created to further reduce costs.

High capacity: A single LoRa gateway may connect thousands of endpoint IoT devices.

LoRaWAN Category

Category A

Class A is a simple ALOHA system, because it is completely asynchronous; This means that the terminal node does not have to wait for a specific time to communicate with the gateway. Instead, they broadcast when needed, and then stop the activity the next time they need it. If you have an eight channel system, you can fill each time period with a message, so it can be perfectly synchronized.

Category B

Messages can be transmitted down to battery powered nodes using Category B. The gateway sends a beacon every 128 seconds. Because all LoRaWAN BTSs are slaves of a single pulse clock per second, they all send beacon messages (1PPS) at the same time; This means at the beginning of every second. Each GPS satellite in orbit will transmit a message to synchronize time around the world.

Category C

Class C allows nodes to continuously monitor and send downlink messages at any time. Because it requires a lot of energy to keep the node fully awake and always operate the receiver, this is usually used for AC powered applications.
